Cottonwoods by a River

Writer: Bob HazyBob Hazy

The cottonwoods, they huddle

by the river, milling

not looking too anxious

for just a sip

of the Arkansas come bubbling by.

In these sticks not a flag

of green or yellow,

but the woody tawny pink

of a restless urge

for May.
