Traveling east from El Dorado Hills on US-50 one climbs a large hill before descending into the valley. As one crests that saddle they are treated to an epic view of the valley: dramatic and on clear days more than a hundred miles up and down this cornucopia.
Cresting at night, the lights twinkle out to the horizon, the mountains dark against a slightly lighter sky.
I've enjoyed that view every time. It's inspiring, and calming. It's magnificent and humbling. It's just another one of those things I'll miss.
Nostalgia is both an inspiration and a burden. It reminds us of great joys, and binds us to an ephemeral past of jumbled memories, senses, and emotions. I hope your move propels you forward while your memories warm and sustain you.
